Local Content and Geo-Targeted Pages
Create pages and articles targeting your geographic area to capture local traffic.
Why create local content
Geo-targeted content helps Google understand which areas you serve. Pages optimized for specific cities or neighborhoods capture qualified local traffic.
Types of local pages
- Service pages by city: "Plumber in Chicago", "Dentist in Houston"
- Service area pages: cover the cities and neighborhoods you serve
- Local blog posts: local events, neighborhood guides, industry news in your area
- Local team pages: present team members by location
Optimizing local content
- Include the city name in the title, meta description, and H1
- Mention local landmarks (neighborhoods, monuments, well-known streets)
- Add an embedded Google Maps widget
- Include testimonials from local customers
- Add LocalBusiness schema markup
Avoiding duplicate content
Don't create nearly identical pages by just changing the city name. Each local page should contain unique, relevant content for the targeted area.
